Ableton Note was just released for iOS, but this mobile application is not a compete port of Ableton Live onto iOS. Note is a playable app featuring a curated selection of Live’s drum kits, melodic instruments and synth sounds. Use them to come up with beats, chords and melodies, or create your own sound palette by recording the world around you into Note’s sampler instruments.
Note is a place to start ideas, experiment with sounds and find direction. As part of your regular music-making routine. Use it to generate sketches and ideas or 8 bar loops that you can then send to Ableton Live’s browser to continue iterating on. Using Ableton Cloud, you can send your Note Set to Live without leaving the app. Then keep working with all the same devices as in Note, but with additional parameters available. You can edit all your MIDI notes, and all your samples and sounds from Note are exactly the same.
Full details and more information about Ableton Note can be found on their website. We’ll have a Note and Live workflow post on how you can optimize your workflow with Ableton Note soon. Download the App on iOS.
